Animal Assisted intervention
Summer Program
Horses for Healing is in its fifth year as an outstanding program for children and teens, 12- 17 years old. The two week program runs Monday - Thursday, 9:30-2:30pm and is held at beautiful Sunset Hill Farm, Redding CT.
Each morning, participants have an hour riding time and an hour in the barn working on horsemanship skills such as leading, grooming, bathing, and tacking the horse.
If possible, equine professionals are scheduled throughout the two weeks. Students enjoy watching the blacksmith, dentist, or veterinarian at work.
After lunch, a variety of other fun holistic interventions are experienced such as a drumming circle, yoga, or sound therapy.
For residential treatment facilities and agencies only.
Group size is limited to six participants.
$250/participant/week
This program is modeled after the successful "Horses for Healing" program. This is an animal lover's dream come true for children and teens, 12 -17 years old! The week long program meets Monday - Thursday, 9:30-2:30pm at the AaTs Center in Milford except when we are out and about in the community.
Mornings may include a hike or walk with our credentialed AaTs Therapy Dogs, learning the basics of dog training, or taking the dogs on a community therapy visit under the guidance of AaTs staff.
After lunch, we spend time caring for our small animals and explore a variety of activities that provide an afternoon of fun and adventure. These may include experiencing other holistic interventions such as baking healthy treats for the dogs (or humans!) in our kitchen, art, music, drumming, yoga, or sound therapy/meditation.
The program is available to agencies only and some agency staff must attend with participants.
Group size is limited to ten participants.
$350/participant/week
